Kevin Walker is an experienced walk leader, instructor and author. Map interpretation allows you to read a map like a book. Once you have been introduced to this simple yet effective skill, you will never look at a map in the same way again!

Well known local author, historian and guide, Chris Barber, will give a talk on the life and times of Alexander Cordell, author of “Rape of the Fair Country” as an introduction to his walk on 5th. Please note that the walk on the 5th is now fully booked, although there are still places for the talk.

Survive to Race - Rob Lewis

Llanbedr resident Rob Lewis will share stories of survival and competitive racing from an expedition he led to the North Pole - how he battled frost bite, polar bears and 6 other professional teams to compete for the honours in what was the largest mass participant race to any pole. The expedition was the headline programme in the BBC documentary series ‘The Challenge’

RAF Adventure Day for 6 to 12 year olds

Details:
A day of excitement, games and fun for children. Bring rough clothes, towel and a spare set in case you get wet! Also bring your own packed lunch (drinks provided).

Introduction to Navigation - Kevin Walker

Details:
For his second session at the festival Kevin Walker is going to help you learn the basics of using a compass to find your way. This is suitable for families. Bring a compass, if you have one, but there should be enough around to borrow one for the lesson.

Family Walk - Coity Tip Nature Reserve

Details:
A family walk to be led by children (aged 7-12) with the help of Sue Ball and Alvin Nicholas (Blaenavon World Heritage Site). Sorry no dogs.
