Welcome to the Crickhowell Walking Festival website. The 2010 Festival will start on 27th February and finish on 7th March.

In the 2010 programme there are about 60 walks, ranging, as usual, from tough all day treks to easier and general interest walks. The full programme will be on line over the next few days and printed programmes available from CRiC at about the same time.

We are raising funds for Help for Heroes and we have a special challenge on Saturday 28th February for anyone willing to raise at least £100 through sponsorship. The walk – which will take place in the wild west of the National Park – will be led by RAF Instructors and will include a visit to a number of aircraft crash sites to pay tribute to those that have lost their lives in the service of our country.

On 5th March we have a talk from world-renowned mountaineer, Doug Scott. He will be talking about his “Life and Hard Times” from his beginnings as a rock climber to conquering the south face of Everest with Dougal Haston. It is fitting that he should be talking about Everest as the mountain is named after Sir George Everest, Surveyor of India, who lived for a time in Crickhowell.

We have a wide programme of Events in parallel to the walking programme for those who want a rest or who have partners out walking and want something else to do. Of course, the volunteers at CRiC will always be on hand to give advice about places to see and things to do in the area.
