About the Crickhowell Walking Festival 2010

Welcome to the Crickhowell Walking Festival website. The 2010 Festival ran from 27th February to 7th March.In the 2010 programme there were about 60 walks, ranging, as usual, from tough all day treks to easier and general interest walks.

On this website you can see the programme of walks and events that took place this year as well as photographs submitted by walkers for our photo competition. This was won by Steve Haslam of Bwlch, Powys. The Runner up was Humphrey Thompson of Winchester and the Third prixe went to Mike Chamberlain of Crickhowell. Thanks to everyone who submitted photos.

Crickhowell is situated in the eastern area of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The surrounding area includes the magnifi cent Black Mountains as well as the valleys of the River Usk and its many tributaries. The result is a wide range of landscapes lending themselves to glorious walking and other outdoor activities.

The Festival is organised by the Crickhowell Resource and Information Centre (CRiC), a charitable organisation based in the centre of Crickhowell. Here you will fi nd the Tourist Information Centre as well as an Internet Café, Art Gallery, Public Toilets and other facilities. CRiC is open from 9am to 5pm during the Festival.

Car Parks. The main car park in Crickhowell is situated behind CRiC. To get there turn off the main road by the Fire Station (Greenhill Way) and take the first left. It is Pay & Display.
