Details:
A reasonably long walk through varied terrain remaining below 1200ft. The route initially follows the Taff Trail north. A short climb to the back of Tor y Foel then descending to Llangynidr. If the river is low enough along the bank of the River Usk, before joining the canal to Crickhowell. Otherwise canal all the way. Ascent 300ft.

The car park is about 2.5 miles on the road up the Grwyne Fawr valley from Forest Coal Pit.

North via Bal Mawr and Chwarel y Fan, descending to cross the river near Blaen y Cwm, then up to Pen y Gadair Fawr, returning south via Pen Twyn Mawr and Disgwylfa. 3000ft ascent.

The car park is on the minor road right off the A40 in Bwlch coming from Crickhowell.

Walk up & over Mynydd Llangorse before dropping down via Cockit Hill and up Mynydd Troed. Along the ridge to descend to the valley and up again to Bwlch. Ascent 2700ft.

A guided walk looking at the archaeology of upland Blaenau Gwent. The walk will take in the Duke’s Table, the Brinore tramroad, prehistoric burial mounds and the Chartists’ Cave.

The car park is at the head of the Grwyne Fawr valley.

A walk along well made tracks & an old railway line, rising gradually to the dam, with a bit of industrial history along the way. A short scramble down by the dam and a level return. 1000ft ascent.
