Meet at Cray Reservoir car park on A4067 South from Sennybridge. SN881206

Led RAF Instructors, this arduous walk from the Usk Reservoir to the Cray Reservoir has several thousand feet of climb across rough terrain and visits some of the aircraft crash sites, acknowledging those who have made sacrifices in the past. The Challenge is not just a physical one, as everyone who enrols must pledge to raise at least £100 for Help for Heroes. Whoever raises the most will receive a Montane Superfly jacket, donated by Crickhowell Adventure.

Ascend Pen y Gadair Fawr then follow the ridge south east to Disgwylfa, descend to Pont Cadwgan before climbing up again to the eastern ridge to return via Bal Mawr and Chwarel y Fan. Ascent 3500ft

To car park go through Longtown, at 3-way junction turn left and left at next fork. Follow signs to picnic site.

A steep climb up the Catsback is rewarded with a great ridge walk from Hay Bluff to Gospel Pass. Down to Capel-y-Ffin with a steep climb past the Vision Farm and over Offa’s Dyke to the start. Ascent 3000 ft.

An easy paced family walk – farm fields, hedges and woodland, stream and river. We’ll look for signs of spring, budding trees, birdsong and early flowers. Through Graig Wood, down to Llangenny and by stream and Rheld Wood to return along the River Usk. Wear warm clothes and bring binoculars.

The car park is on the right about 2.5 miles on the road up the Grwyne Fawr valley from Fforest Coal Pit.

A walk in the Grwyne Fawr Valley linking two fascinating churches hiding medieval treasures and tales of murder! A walk through the forest brings us to Patricio and St Issui’s Well, across the valley to Cwmyoy with its quirky leaning tower. Ascent 2000ft.

An easy walk to the cairn on the Blorenge with a scenic circuit of Blorenge around the Punchbowl and along the tramroad to Keeper’s Pond. Excellent views of the Usk Valley.

Take Llanbedr Rd from Crickhowell for 4 miles. Right at no through road sign.(Brook Cottage on pre-2009 maps).

To start with a gentle rise up to the col, past the Hermitage with its tales of Macnamara, over the picturesque Tal y Maes bridge. Back along the ridge via Pen Twyn Glas with a steepish descent to the finish. 2000ft ascent. Try ‘the other half’ tomorrow – Walk 20
