A minibus takes us to Bwlch where we gently ascend Cefn Moel and descend on a quiet lane beside Pen Tir to reach Cwmdu. Then we ascend to the hillside and follow the mountain wall gently up and down south east past Cwm Mawr to the remains of an old farm settlement near Twyn. Look out for a memorial to John Samson set into the wall near Cwm Mawr - he created the Beacons Way in 2005 working with Arwel Michael. From Twyn we descend to Crickhowell on a well made track and quiet roads.
